I created a new minigame into Crosscross! in the country location, you have a chance to meet a dog! if you encounter it however, you need to comfort it by petting it with good timing because it was startled lol
and yes so naturally i did create sprite frames for it (as well as 2 other dog breeds but those won't be released yet) so an art log will be coming soon!
I'm also due for my next demo so I will be shipping that soon :)

I just posted a demo but like i deleted it cuz I just realized I left a bug running lol

everything is fully operational just on keyboard so that it would be compatible with the arcade machines
i changed the background music because I got a lot of feedback saying it doens't fit (which I agree in hindsight)

also, I added the cyclist character and it has a working rock paper scissors function. This is the random part of my game now! as you can see you can only arbitrarily choose the correct rock paper scissors answer.
I haven't finished the animation yet so it has a temporary placeholder animation. but all the logic works!

I've been working on the character (like 2 hrs just on art 😭) that does the random rock paper scissors dialogue!! for the random aspect I add to my game
I also got rid of a lot of the live tutorial bc I changed my mind lol
I decided that a cutscene at the start for the tutorial would make things much cleaner and less distracting!
I also fixed a bug that made it so that the charm button and the live tutorial dialogue wouldn't show up together. so now they do show up together lolll

I'm about to ship a demo, but I'm still yet to finish a few bits so I want to finish those first before shipping a third version.
Updates:
We have coins, shields, charms, and puddles now!
They all do the following respectively:
when you collect 5 coins, you get a FEVER as seen in the screenshot! It makes your points multiply faster and by a larger rate! and there's a cool animation for it too
shields allow you to protect yourself from your next encounter (no dialogue scene ensues when your shield is engaged)
charm allows you to charm your way out of a dialogue scenario (it will be an option button when you enter a dialogue situation)
puddles make you walk slower so it's pretty hard to dodge enemies once you walk into one
I got a lot of feedback on repetition so hopefully this helps with that!

Now as you can see in the screenshot, there is a point system.
Also, I added "events" so like that bubble looking thing is a charm that allows you to charm your way out of a language scenario.
Charms are quite rare, however; coins and shields will pop up more often.
Also, I finally changed the outer rim of the game to no longer be those ugly buildings but now like a sidewalk with street lamps, benches, little stalls, and trees. Overall, just trying to escape the repetitiveness that I got as feedback from a number of people. That being said, because this is an arcade game, I'm going to keep it repetitive on purpose because that is kind of the essence of an arcade game, and when I designed my game, I had the fact that it was an arcade game in mind when I was doing game design.
changed the entire game tiles to be 72x72 and retextured the surrounding buildings (now streetlamps, benches, etc.) also added 'events' like coins and shields to make the game less repetitive but still nonfunctional rn+611-35▶

Okkkk crosscross version 2 is out!
I added a bunch of things from the feedback I got from playtesting so thanks to everyone who playtested my game!
I added more dialogue per character (randomized each encounter) so it's harder to memorize the answers for each dialogue scenario! I hope this is a step-up from the previous version lolll. But most of my updates are in my previous devlog so I'm too lazy to rewrite them again lol.

Just a note: All art in the game is mine (I created it before artlogs were a thing) and I will start uploading timelapses once I figure out how. Also, the music is mostly not mine they're from freesound.org with Creative Commons 0, but the main game music that plays when you're playing is actually composed by me in musescore. (I play violin so I have musical understanding lol)

Hey! I'm back with another update.
I'm honestly too lazy to do a screen recording cuz idk how to do that. BUT!
Updates:
Added audio (finally LOL)
I added SFX
I created new animations (as you can see here, this is my favorite frame LOL) for all the characters that I had because before I only had the office man's animation done (so like no matter who you encountered it was literally just the office man animation)
I just realized art logs exist now so I'll probably need to start figuring out how to do timelapses
Idk if anyone wants to know but if you want to know I use aseprite for all the art that I do. It's 20 bucks but I think it was completely worth it.
I added a game over screen as well and I'm really proud of it lol
Things I will add:
I need to redraw the buildings because their perspective isn't even top down and they're looking really ugly compared to all the other art in my game
I'll create more characters and more dialogue scenarios per character so that it's harder to just memorize all of the answers
If anyone is play testing my game and reading this, just know that you're not supposed to understand what the people are saying like unless you know the language. It's part of the game to guess what to say.

hey! I didn't realize these screenshots were like REQUIRED. I thought they were optional LOL
anyhow here is a status update, I created a functional main menu and when you hover over the buttons, they change color. The background is an animation and it flickers on and off (i just thought that was a fun detail lolll)

Hey! okay this is my first demo ship. I wanted to upload at least something and I have all of the main components of the game done. but im still missing a lot of things (revamped art, music, game screens like game over, etc) so pls be kind 😭😭😭

I set up Godot and I'm still deciding on what kind of game to make, hence the name 'Molla' which literally means i don't know in korean lol
