Day 16 of Shiba
I added a dash sound effect for my new aliens, but it would go off even when the alien is dashing in some other part of the map. I tried to fix it by making it so it only plays the dash sound when the alien is dashing infront of the player (on camera) but it was messing up my camera and alien script so I had to undo everything :(

Day 14 of Shiba
I’m finally almost done with the new alien! There are still a few minor bugs, but the main mechanic is working perfectly. Only three of them can dash at a time, and when one dies, its power is passed on to another. After surviving for 2 minutes, the slimes stop spawning, and the new aliens appear, including the big ones that can teleport.
The only issue right now is that if the new aliens die while dashing, their afterimages don’t fade out and just stay stuck on the screen. I’ll fix that tomorrow, and once that’s done, the new alien will be complete.
Tomorrow, I’m also adding some sound effects for the new alien I’m so happy I finally got it to work! 🎉

Working on the new aline. Still trying to make it so only 3 of them can dash at once but it's not working :(
Had to undo most of my work cause it was messing with my entire game and a lot of stuff was bugging out really bad.
Tmr I will try to finish up the new alien and add some healing potions

Working on the new aline. I tried to make it so only 3 of them can dash at once the same way only one of the mob2 can teleport at once but its not working :(

Day 11 of Shiba
I’m working on the new alien, this one gives the player 3 to 7 points. The main thing I’m trying to do right now is make it so only 3 of them can dash at once, similar to how in my other alien only one can teleport at a time. That way, the game doesn’t become insanely hard to play.
But it just doesn’t seem to work even after 3 hours of grinding
:( I’ll give it another shot tomorrow.
Day 10 of Shiba
I’m working on the new alien and have fixed several small bugs in its dashing mechanic. The main update is that the alien now leaves behind afterimages while dashing.
Day 9 of Shiba
I’ve started working on a brand new alien with new powers (not spoiling those yet). If you play the game right now, you’ll find a demo version of the alien, it takes 7 hits to kill and doesn’t deal any damage to the player.
Tomorrow, I’ll keep working on it and make it the most coolest alien in the game.
And if you’ve been assigned to playtest my game PLEASE just do it
Day 8 of Shiba
I still can’t get the dash particles to fade out exactly how I want. they’re a bit off but I made some other small improvements. I added an audio limiter because the game would get really loud in some parts, and that doesn’t happen anymore. I also revamped the How to Play page (previously called Controls) and will add more to it tomorrow.
On top of that, I made it so the background dims slightly when the player opens the shop, which helps focus attention on the shop itself. And after a review mentioned dashing with Q was a bit hard, I added the option to dash with either Q or the spacebar :)

Didn’t get much done today, the fever’s still lingering :(
Im almost done with the dash particles,the fade-out still looks a little off. Tried adding some glow but coudn't do it.
At least the dash particles look better than they did yesterday.
Hopefully, I feel better tomorrow so I can finally move on from these particles and start something new :)
Day 6 of Shiba
Didn’t get much done today since I’ve got a fever. Fixed a few random bugs I came across and tried making my particles glow, but the WorldEnvironment is just REFUSING to work :(

Day 5 of Shiba
I tried to make the dash particles look better but that ended up breaking my entire player script, and it took me about 2 hours to fix it :(
Still, I managed to finish the Shop UI for now. (I know the items aren’t lined up properly, but I can’t move them since the animations are anchored to their positions if that makes sense.)
Hopefully tomorrow I can get the dash particles to look good.

Day 4 of the Shiba Challenge
Finally added the cooldown and added the Shockwave in the item shop! I also fixed a few bugs with it and tweaked the SFX a bit to make it sound cleaner. Next up: polishing the shop UI and improving the player dash particles :)
Day 3 of the Shiba Challenge.
I tried adding a cooldown to my Shockwave attack and adding it to the item shop, but I kept running into bugs and couldn’t make any real progress. So instead, I worked on adding particle effects for the player dash. They’re barely visible right now, but tomorrow I’ll make them look a lot better, finish the Shockwave setup for the item shop, and start working on the shop UI.
Day 2 of Shiba :sob: (I missed Day 1)
I’m almost done with my new Shockwave Attack! It basically knocks enemies back a bit and slows them down for 5 seconds. It was inspired by Conqueror’s Haki from One Piece.
I also added some instructions to the shop, but it’s a bit messy right now the text is all over the place. Tomorrow, I’ll add a cooldown for the Shockwave Attack, clean up the shop UI, and make the instructions clearer.
Do any of y’all have a cool name for this new attack? Well, it’s more like a defense move since it doesn’t deal any damage.

Working on a Shop system where the player can buy power ups/healing potions/nuclear weapons,etc.
Right now you can get Space Shift (teleportation) for 5 points lol

I improved the teleport mechanic by giving Space Slimes a reaction delay. Before, they could instantly change direction after you teleported, but now there’s a short delay, making teleport feel stronger and more rewarding. Later, teleport will be something you have to buy with points in the shop. However, this won’t work against Advanced Aliens, since they can also teleport and instantly track where you go
Adding animation for the player taking damage.

Day 3 of Randomness Week
😭 I missed a day, but today I added a textbox system! It will give players instructions as the game progresses.
Forgot to mention this on the last post. The player gets points for killing the aliens but it doesnt show on the screen yet

For the 'Randomness Week' Challenge, I’m adding a spin wheel where players can spend 100 points to spin a wheel for random stuff like: extra points, power-ups, weapons, or even the chance of losing points.
Added a new alien which is a lot stronger than the space slimes, they start spawning 18 seconds after the game starts. The faster they are the lower HP they have.
(Still trying to find a good balance, if you think the game is too ez or too hard DM me and let me know)
Cool scene transition, + UI stuff, you can now press esc to restart the game while playing

What’s in the game right now

Home screen + game over screen (volume sliders don’t work yet)
Map border pushes you back with a bounce (can sometimes bug and trap you in the wall)
How to play
Move: WASD
Dash: Press Q while moving (1 second cooldown)
Shoot: Left click
Teleport: Right click (no cooldown yet 👀)
I don’t think I can finish the game I originally planned in just 2 months since school just started and more than half my day is gone. I’m still keeping most of the mechanics, but I’ve decided to switch to a different type of game, similar to Vampire Survivors. I know it’s not the most creative choice, but I dont have that much time anymore. But I will add a bunch of cool alien powers to lvl it up.

Added M1 attacks, when you touch the chest to your left (I didnt draw my icons yet) you get a sword. and then there is an enemy to beat up (doesnt do the damage animation iv to fix it)
and everything else is the same. (WASD.spacebar for movement) Q for dashes, right click for teleportation
Added a really cool teleportation mechanic (I will add cooldown later)
Right click and the player will tp to the cursor
After teleportaion the player floats mid air but if you press press any other bind it will fall down. (WASD,Spacebar) for movement Q for dash mouse side button click for sprint
